—Each issue has a guiding theme that h e l p s thematically focus the chaos of experimentation. Submission/reading periods are from October 1-December 10 for First Quarter publications. January 1-March 10 for Second Quarter publications. April 1-June 10 for Third Quarter publications. And July 1-September 10 for Fourth Quarter publications.
First Quarter 2026 submissions have closed.
Second Quarter 2026 submissions open up Januarary 1, 2026. The theme for Second Quarter 2026 is Jungle. Short stories, flash pieces, and poetry must contain some reference to the biome of a jungle (“an area of tropical forest where trees and plants grow very thickly” OED). Essays and hybrid-works must contain at least one use of the word jungle.
